Strenuous climb up Mt. Walker this morning (in our Subaru) for expansive views over Hood Canal. By the way, Hood Canal is not a man-made body of water but a fjord that comprises the west lobe of Puget Sound and is a minor part of the Salish Sea.

From Mt. Walker, we drove to the Dosewallips Recreation area of the U.S. Forest Service for a six-mile (round trip) walk along the Dosewallips River, stopping at the half-way point for an organic meal of "lunchables," each packed in a sealed container with 10 half-dollar slices of Kraft cheese product, Oscar Meyer meat, and Ritz Crackers and purchased at the Peninsula Foods. Pat opted for turkey and cheddar, while Pete favored ham and swiss.
On the way back to our lodgings, we stopped for some local Hama Hama oysters on the half shell, which ended up being our dinner for this evening.
