Low Clouds Over Diamond Lake

In a leisurely start to the morning, we leave Bend at 10:30 driving south to just north of Crater Lake, then head west to Coos Bay on the coast, crossing the Cascades and the Coastal range in the process. Poke our way throughout the day, stopping as we saw fit to take in the many temptations the mountains offer. Proceeded a tad too slowly, not arriving at our hotel in Gold Beach until after 7:00 pm, nine+ hours for a trip that should have been about 5 and one-half hours. Dinner that night at Anna’s, home of Nouvelle Canadian Prairie Cuisine. It was 5 years since our prior visit and we were excited about the return trip, which turned out to be pretty much a dud, although a somewhat expensive dud. Oh well, it’s not the first time we’ve learned that you can never go back.
