Kite Festival: Friday, August 23, 2013
Cross the Columbia River to attend
kite festival on the Long Beach (Washington) peninsula, which boasts a 28 mile long beach. Pleasant day sitting in the dunes in our Tommy Bahama beach chairs, protected from the wind by our hooded Gore-Tex
parkas, while watching expert kite-flyers do some pretty amazing things with
purpose-made sport kites. World record set – 81 Revolution kites in the air in
close proximity and performing synchronized moves. Impressive. Intended to stay
for the evening's illuminated kite flying and end-of-the day fireworks, but late
afternoon rain drove us off the beach just as the day’s schedule was completed.
Dinner of grilled rainbow trout, zuchini-prosciutto salad and sliced tomatoes.
