The Badlands, Wednesday-Thursday, July 27-28
| The Building Storm |
Left our RV in Custer and drove the truck to the Badlands Wednesday morning, overnighting in a small spare cabin at Cedar Pass Lodge.
The heat was oppressive throughout the afternoon but cooled in early evening after we were treated to a horrific thunder and lightning show.
Badlands National Park is one of those places that produces wonder when you first are immersed, but seems to repeat itself so often that the fantastic becomes commonplace. Then you realize that it is never the same, that it continuously transforms itself to accommodate the whims of light and shadow, sound and silence, wind and calm, rain and dust. It is only you that have lapsed into a stupor.
