“Travel and eat” is what we do best! After 30 years of handwritten journals, we are joining the digital age. Our interests carry us to destinations both foreign and domestic. We seek out dining that reflects local custom and our budget isn’t boundless so finding places that offer an experience without too many dollar signs is also part of our MO. We'll post if our travels bring us food, people or places that we think might entice you to follow in our footsteps or simply capture your imagination.
On the second day of our return trip from San Miguel de Allende, we took Amtrak's Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to Paso Robles. Departing Union Station at 12:15 pm (under a modified schedule that will remain in effect until March 31, 2011), we did not arrive in Paso Robles until 8:00 pm, one hour and fifteen minutes late. Nonetheless, the late departure from LA (the Coast Starlight normally departs Union Station at 10:15 am) meant warm, late afternoon light as we were traversing some of the most scenic parts of California's Central Coast. Here are some images taken out of our window seat as we proceeded north up the Pacific Coast.
