October 6 The high road to Santa Fe

Moving on again today, we took the “high road” to Santa Fe, a route along the western slopes of the Sangre de Christo Mountains. The views are, yet again, spectacular in all directions. We had seen an ad for a wine shop on the way, Kokoman. Rumor has it they are one of the top 10 wine shops in the US! The breadth of the selection kept us busy for quite awhile as we chose an assortment of wines for the remainder of our trip. Outside the shop, there was David Luckey, owner/operator of Bangin’ Buffalo, the best barbeque meats in the area. We had smoked lamb barbeque and pork that was like a spicy Carolina barbeque – excellent! We arrived at our campground outside of Santa Fe near the Pecos wilderness well fed.
